Donations and grants by the VELUX FOUNDATION
The Foundation’s donations and grants are made for the priority areas laid down in the statutes.
In this way, the Foundation makes donations and grants for voluntary and unpaid initiatives undertaken by active senior citizens. Since 2009, the Foundation has had a special programme for older people’s participation in life-long learning and the mobilisation of older people in activities benefiting older persons with fewer social resources, and especially the very elderly.
The Foundation makes grants for gerontological research and ophthalmological research.
Since 2008, the Foundation made grants under a special programme for research projects in the human sciences, i.e. research in the humanities and closely related social sciences. In addition to awarding grants to projects applied for subject to invitation, the Foundation makes grants for both collective and individual projects, typically in the form of postdoctoral projects.
Besides the special focus areas, the Foundation donates funds for cultural, artistic, social and environmental purposes. The emphasis in this funding area is on large-scale projects and projects with scope beyond a local community.
