Adjustments to the foundations

At a meeting of the board of VILLUM FONDEN on 21 December 1986 – the Foundation’s 15th anniversary – it was decided to incorporate an addendum to the Foundation’s statutes in the form of a provision for the granting of ”The Villum Kann Rasmussen Annual Award for Technical Research”.

In 1988, the objects clause for VILLUM FONDEN was amended once again, in that it now omitted a number of the non-profit purposes which now, in particular, belonged under VELUX FONDEN, that is, support for activities among older people, support for research in ophthalmology, gerontology and geriatrics.

In 1992, amendments were made to the statutes of both Foundations in the light of the founder’s high age, so that an additional clause was incorporated to require that the board shall at all times include one member descended from the founder. On the same occasion, an addendum was also incorporated in the objects clause in the statutes for each of the Foundations, in that the granting of honorary awards for raising awareness of the value and importance of daylight was extended to achievements within industrially manufactured building components.

In 2004, "The Villum Kann Rasmussen Annual Award for Technical Research" was renamed the "The Villum Kann Rasmussen Annual Award for Technical and Scientific Research".

In 2008, both Foundations were also assigned environment and sustainability as themes eligible for support in line with cultural, scientific or social purposes.
