NATEC - 25 million over five years

Professor Jesper Mørk and his DTU Fotonik group, Nanophotonics, have received funding from the VILLUM KANN RASMUSSEN FOUNDATION to participate in a new and highly prestigious Centre of Excellence at DTU.

The Centre is focused on "NAnophotonics for TErabit Communications" (NATEC) and will do fundamental research on devices based on quantum dots and photonic crystals and their application in terabit communication systems. This involves fundamental theory, fabrication, characterization and systems experiments.

The Centre of Excellence will be lead by Jesper Mørk and the research will be carried out in collaboration with DTU Nanotek (Niels Asger Mortensen and Antti-Pekka Jauho), DTU Mekanik (Ole Sigmund and Jakob Søndergaard Jensen), CEN (Rafal Dunin-Bokowski), DANCHIP (Mogens Rysholt Poulsen) and DTU Fotonik (Christophe Peucheret, Palle Jeppesen, Leif Oxenløwe, Idelfonso Tafur Monroy, Kresten Yvind, Mike van der Poel, Peter Lodahl, Lars Frandsen, Jørn M. Hvam).

The overall funding is DKK 25 million over a period of five years. The VILLUM KANN RASMUSSEN FOUNDATION supports research activities, especially within the technical and natural sciences, agricultural and veterinary sciences and industry research.
